WJEC AS Level Further Mathematics.

The assessment of the WJEC AS Level Maths will be based on 3 written papers that are outlined below.

Unit (paper) 1, Unit (paper) 2 and Unit (paper) 3 will be available in 2018 (and each year thereafter) and the AS qualification will be awarded for the first time in summer 2018.

All AS Units are compulsory.

Weightings noted below are expressed in terms of the full A level qualification.

WJEC AS Further Pure Mathematics A

Paper 1 will count for 13.33% of the overall grade and will be 1 hour 30 minutes in duration.

There are a possible maximum of 70 marks.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.

A calculator will be allowed in this examination.

WJEC AS Further Statistics A

Paper 2 will count for 13.33% of the overall grade and will be 1 hour 30 minutes in duration.

There are a possible maximum of 70 marks.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.

A calculator will be allowed in this examination.

WJEC AS Further Mechanics A

Paper 3 will count for 13.33% of the overall grade and will be 1 hour 30 minutes in duration.

There are a possible maximum of 70 marks.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.

WJEC A Level Further Mathematics

The assessment of the WJEC A Level Maths will be based on the completion of Papers 1, 2 and 3 above, along with 2 of the 3 written papers that are outlined below.  Unit 4 is compulsory, candidates must also take either Unit 5 or Unit 6

Unit (paper) 4, Unit (paper) 5 and Unit (paper) 6 will be available in 2019 (and each year thereafter) and the A level qualification will be awarded for the first time in summer 2019.

WJEC A Level Further Pure Mathematics B

Paper 4 will count for 35% of the overall A Level grade and will be 2 hours and 30 minutes in duration.

This unit is compulsory.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.

A calculator will be allowed in this examination.

WJEC A Level Further Statistics B

Paper 5 will count for 25% of the overall A Level grade and will be 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration.

Learners must sit either Unit 5 or Unit 6.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.

WJEC A Level Further Mechanics B

Paper 6 will count for 25% of the overall A Level grade and will be 1 hour and 45 minutes in duration.

Learners must sit either Unit 5 or Unit 6.

Questions will assess learners’ understanding of more than one topic from the subject content.  The paper will include some shorter and some longer questions, both structured and unstructured.  These may be set on any part of the subject content of the unit.
